Packing Information and Freight Policy

IAC takes extra care in packaging our product and so has a remarkably low freight claim rate on delivered product. All products shipped from IAC are inspected and shipped free of defects.

Packing Process

The below photos should give you an idea of our packing process.

STEP 1 : Product is placed in a box; care is taken to make sure product is spaced,to avoid damage.
STEP 2 : Liquid foam is added so items don't move in the box.
STEP 3 : Once foamed, the box is covered and banded with PLASTIC banding.
STEP 4 : Boxes are placed on oversized skids to avoid damage. Smaller boxes on top.
STEP 5 : All boxes that contain Hardware, Packaging List or Assembly Instructions are clearly marked.
STEP 6 : We always wrap our finished skids in BLUE plastic stretch wrap.

Quality Control

IAC follows stringent inspection processes to maintain the quality of the products delivered to our customers. In addition to confirming the quality of construction of each and every premium and industrial workbench, IAC runs extensive testing on all of the accessories we offer, including all light fixtures, ESD worksurfaces, and Clean Air Flow systems. [Also reference our Packing process photos above].

Where it applies, quality inspections also verify that:

  • Packing list matches original order paperwork
  • Product is free of defects
  • Correct hardware is included
  • Special handling requests are followed
  • "Custom or Special" orders are assembled properly and accessories fit as specified.

Freight Carriers

IAC ships product via the buyer's requested carrier; all shipments should be freight charge COLLECT or 3rd Party billed.

For customers that do not have an account with a freight carrier, as a courtesy, we can ship via BESTWAY PrePaid & Add. We will select a carrier of our choice and bill the customer for the cost (plus an additional Shipping & Handling fee). If we ship BST PPA, please note that everything on our Freight Policy still applies; we ship FOB Origin.

Most IAC product is shipped unassembled in a box and strapped to a wooden pallet, to avoid shipping damage [See Packing Process Steps 4 and 5 photos]. Because it is strapped to a pallet, we must use an LTL Freight Carrier.

Smaller items are sometimes boxed and shipped via a Ground/Small Package Carrier.

Note: Even if it is small or light weight, we recommend shipping laminated products (worksurfaces, shelves, etc) and all items 60″L or larger via LTL Carrier, to avoid damage.

FOB Origin

Please remember that IAC ships FOB ORIGIN.

FOB Origin means that the buyer takes ownership at the seller's location and is responsible for it at that point. Therefore, the sale is complete once the product is picked up by the freight carrier/buyer.

Carrier Non-Performance

IAC is not responsible for carrier non-performance including but not limited to: appointment not set, missed appointment, late delivery, lost shipment or FREIGHT DAMAGE.

IAC will not pay any expenses associated with these issues.

Preparing for Delivery

We want your delivery of IAC product to be a smooth and pleasant experience. To avoid problems on the day your shipment arrives, please review the questions below. In some cases you may need to make special arrangements for receipt of product. If any of your answers indicate a need for special shipping instructions please alert us when placing your order. Please be aware that some delivery services require additional cost.

  • Is there a loading dock available? If not a truck with a lift gate will be required.
  • Do you require Inside Delivery? This means, the driver will carry your shipment through the threshold of the delivery location.
  • Are there elevators, doors, or other factors limiting the size or weight of pallets?
  • Is there a forklift or other necessary material-handling device for unloading your products upon reception?
  • Will there be limitations (business hours, days of operation, etc.) for scheduling deliveries?
  • Large product deliveries generate a considerable amount of packaging material. Is there a convenient area and means of disposal?

Note: IAC's standard practice on Build-To-Order product is to "bulk pack" the entire order, but on request, we can make special arrangements to pack product by receiving location in the case of a large order.

Once Shipment Arrives

All products shipped from IAC are inspected and shipped free of defects, yet damage in transit can occur. Many times, even when a box is damaged in transit, the product inside is not harmed. It is your responsibility to examine all freight upon delivery from the carrier.

Carefully inspect each pallet and box upon arrival. If a shipment appears damaged when delivered, be sure to add the comment "DAMAGED" or "POSSIBLE DAMAGE, SUBJEC TO INSPECTION" and advise the driver of any damage noted on the delivery receipt. This is essential or your freight claim may be denied.

Things to remember:

  • If pallets are stacked, please note "STACKED PALLETS" on the delivery receipt. IAC is not responsible for pallets stacked at carrier terminal. In fact, we affix labels specifically stating DO NOT STACK ON THIS PALLET.
  • If pallet arrives without BLUE plastic stretch wrap, okay to notate "POSSIBLE DAMAGE". IAC only ships with BLUE plastic, so a different color may mean that the carrier unpacked the pallet and possibly damaged the items.
  • Be sure to inspect all boxes within 2 days of receipt, anything longer will give the carrier grounds to say that the damage may have occurred at your facility and they will not admit fault.

Accepted Freight with Noted Damage

  • If a shipment appears damaged when delivered, be sure to add the comment "DAMAGED" or "POSSIBLE DAMAGE, SUBJEC TO INSPECTION" and advise the driver of any damage noted on the delivery receipt.
  • Take photographs when possible of all damage
  • Contact your freight carrier and file freight claim directly with them. It's typically a short 1-page form.
  • Keep all damaged pieces and packing material until claim is resolved with the carrier
  • Contact IAC Industries ASAP and notify us of which pieces are damaged
    • We will get to work on a replacement order right away
    • Replacement orders will be expedited, as available
  • IAC can provide to you an acknowledgment that includes value of items in claim, if needed
  • IAC will invoice you for replacement materials and IAC's standard payment terms will apply with the knowledge that there is a freight claim pending

Below are examples of noted freight damage, meaning damage was visible upon delivery:

Accepted Freight with Concealed Damage

  • If you notice when opening a box that product inside is damaged, you should stop unpacking immediately
  • Contact the carrier immediately upon discovery of damage
  • Carrier will determine inspection needs based on value and time elapsed
  • Keep all damaged pieces and packing material until claim is resolved with the carrier
  • Contact IAC Industries ASAP and notify us of which pieces are damaged
    • We will get to work on a replacement order right away
    • Replacement orders will be expedited, as available
  • IAC can provide to you an acknowledgment that includes value of items in claim, if needed
  • IAC will invoice you for replacement materials and IAC's standard payment terms will apply with the knowledge that there is a freight claim pending

Below is an example of concealed damage:

Box corner looked a little crushed, but ok. Once opened, it was determined that the worksurface was cracked.
